      Terrible company and managers

      Pros

      Remote work schedule is an option.

      Cons

      Low quality benefits, "I know everything and have nothing to learn" mentality from managers, no employee engagement, terrible training, not inclusive environment, no work/life balance.

      Good fit for the right person

      Pros

      The people that I worked with were some of the most intelligent and driven people I've ever known. Most everyone was extremely knowledgeable and had great foundational research and creative problem solving skills. You'll get to work on issues that have real impacts, and really can set you up for a career in public policy (especially health policy). The connections in that line of work are fantastic.

      Cons

      There are times, especially if you are a programmer, where the work-life balance (especially with the pandemic) can be really rough. This, for me, was largely not a 9-5, more like 9-6 or 8-6 not infrequently. The other downside was the dreg of getting anything done at a federal level - you either love it or you don't.
