Pros

Pay is slightly better than academia. Other teams seem better than the one I was in. There are lots of snacks and opportunities for ERG involvement (employee resource groups) if you have time for that sort of thing.

Cons

Like in many organizations, communication is poor within the team. Also moving around within the company to different roles seems impossible even when it is in the best interest of the company and the employee. Not sure how other biotechs work but this one seems aimless in many ways.

Pros

There are dedicated and smart people working there. The Bioinformatics

Cons

There are a few bright spots in leadership but Adaptive suffers from an enormous amount of organizational cruft. The organizational structures make little to no sense, there are engineering leaders with no engineering experience and zero technical expertise, there's no accountability, especially in management. Over reliance on contractors that don't really get very much done.

Unethical and illegal treatment of employees

Pros

Wonderful and talented colleagues who are dedicated to the company’s mission.

Cons

Adaptive has been quietly and systematically laying off employees over the past year on almost a monthly. They are doing it in small batches of just under 50 employees to try to avoid triggering a WARN notice, which would require them to make this information public (affecting their stock price), as well as provide additional relief to impacted employees. This is not only unethical, it is illegal and the minute amount of severance they are providing to impacted employees is insulting. Don’t believe me? Just go on LinkedIn to search for prior Adaptive employees and look at their end dates.
