Pros

Basically no pros with this company

Cons

The co-founders are the worst people to work with. CEO is arrogant and thinks he knows everything and treats people very poorly. CSO is pretty much the same and treats people like they are incompetent when in fact the reverse is the only truth. It's OK to spend money on anything they desire but will continue to fire people they don't like. Everything this company does is to stroke the egos of these two idiots. While some of the people are nice, there are some long-haul medical diagnostics people who have been recycled endless times from other diagnostics companies. For example, the RD labs and private health information teams are led by some of the nastiest people on the planet who will stop at nothing to be as mean spirited as they possible.

Pros

Very interesting work being done at this company and it still feels like it’s the next thing in Biotech/Medicine even though the company has been around for more than a decade. There are some cultural and group events that seem to bring some liveliness to the work space if you are able to attend. Also some very interesting and talented people can be found at Adaptive. The office spaces do have free food and coffee.

Cons

Depending on the actual department you work for, your personal work might not be that interesting or feel that rewarding on a day to day basis. For instance in the production laboratory- the work is monotonous but stressful due to the productivity demands. It also makes a huge difference who is your direct supervisor and how well do you get along with them. A poor supervisor makes for a very poor work environment as the work+direct report+promotion structure relies very heavily on weekly check-ins with the assigned supervisor. Work environment was often very toxic. Many conflicting agendas and messages make it hard to feel secure in leadership and in a long term career at Adaptive. To succeed in a job at Adaptive, I believe one must learn to use all the tools available to blame someone else for any *workflow problem* all while conveniently not doing the work that has the most accuracy/productivity parameters tracked. In my opinion, that type of punishment-reward system doesn’t actually benefit any patients or product integrity in the end. High turnover rates.

Pros

- People are top shelf with a high level of care for others - People-centric programs exist throughout - Pay and benefits are very competitive - Moving toward operational transparency (with caution), particularly in business strategy and involving others lower in the organization

Cons

- Business decisions are slow to implement - Fair amount of "know-it-alls" at all levels of the organization - Stock performance isn't consistent - Unstable employment (multiple waves of layoffs over the past two years)
