Pros

Some QEs get to do interesting work.

Cons

Not all QEs get good work. Usually they get boring manual testing and very repetivite work. Not challenging at all. Probably a bad job to be stuck in. Performance and appraisal baised towards developers. As said QEs don't get to do great work and hence reflects in appraisal. QEs are stuck with boring things to do, all time is lost in there. There is a huge divide between QEs and DEVs. The devs have a condescending attitude towards the QEs.
