Pros

Once a customer gets a payday loan, they are usually 'hooked' for life. Research about the payday lending industry to learn more. Stores are not open past 7 pm or on Sundays usually.

Cons

Regional Managers fire at least one Divisional Manager every year to show they are 'doing their job'. Divisional Managers will fire up to four store Managers every year - not from issues with them usually - but from pressure of RD to do so. If a DM stands up for their employees, they should expect to be the one heading out the door. The company does not like management employees to gain much tenure. Many experienced store managers, DMs and RMs have been weeded out - fire higher paid managers and bring in new ones who will work cheaper.

Thank you for your feedback. To address your "pros." we would encourage you to visit youmightbesurprised.com, which tackles the myth that our customers are hooked for life. To address your "cons," we would also encourage you to check out other views on this site. We have multiple reviews from long time team members of 10+ years. We take retaining employees very seriously and, since 2004, have decreased our turnover rate by over 60%. We also engage in feedback surveys to understand why employees leave and how to make Advance America a better place

Pros

Good benefits package, semi-autonomous, potential for some personal and professional growth, OK pay in some parts of the country

Cons

Can be very stressful answering phones and helping customers at the same time, while handling cash. In a busy store, there is very little room for a manager to step-back, as center's need constant micro-managing in order to run smoothly, efficiently and remain profitable. The company starts new hires at around $20,000/year, making it difficult to attract good help. Turnover rates appear high, and retention rates low, at least in my experience. Also involves making collection calls, which in many cases are fruitless and monotonous. There seemed to be constant pressure to "grow" the business utilizing local store marketing tactics like tagging cars in parking lots, making gift baskets for local businesses and business-to-business marketing (dropping off flyers, business cards, etc.); all of which seemed to be a total waste of time, and makes an employee feel as if they are begging for business. Also, there seemed to be very little room for advancement. Other reviewers make the claim that posting this job experience on your resume can "stigmatize" your work history.

Thank you for your feedback. In order to work in a center, we require the ability to know about all of our products and be able to assist a customer in his/her financial decisions. In order to increase our customer satisfaction rate of 97%, we have created an Advance America call center. While in a center working with a customer, your calls will forward to our call center and the customer will be helped through that avenue.

Pros

You get to be in climate control environment, most days done late nights, I enjoyed the field collections, can sometimes get with a decent non 2 faced working group it's all a 20/80% shot on that though

Cons

Upper management very rude not willing to listen to all sides and points of view as well as actual evidence unless it's going in the person they choose's favor, does not care if you need off for family things or gatherings everyone must work those 1st 3rd every Friday and that's no exceptions have not really got no other ambition in general as a whole other than meeting those numbers which is their bonus checks and that's only for upper management(well center manager and up) even though it took everyone of the center employees to get thr center where it is.
