Cons
Absolutley no chance for career advancement if not in the right store. Management of this company couldn't care less about the rank & file workers in the store. The DM does not even know the name of a number of long time employees. Starting pay is very poor and raise are non-existant. It appears that management is using the poor economy as an excuse to keep pay rates very low. Training is also non-existant, new hires are thrown to the wolves (retail public) which leads to poor service. The online training (Focus Training) is very rudimentry and at times insulting rarley addressing what is needed to effectively work with the retail buyer. The constant change in management has a negative effect on company moral. The DM and his supervisor are constantly threating those employees that produce with termination for weak reasons. Advance Auto Parts is more like a big box store and less like an auto parts store. They are more interested in selling trinkets, toys and related junk that is over priced. If the general public knew of the price mark up's vs. the poor quality of what parts they do sell they would shop elsewhere. The majority of the parts are manufactured in China, Indonesia, Mexico, India and other SE Asian countries. Corporate management is more concerned with profits than the quality of parts and the quality of the employees lives.
