Pros

Working for ATS has been a boon for my professional development post military. I was hired as a maintenance technician I after I retired from the Navy in August of 2019, after spending the last 7 years of my military career outside of the engineering/maintenance field and working in signals I tell, and in the 3 years I have been with the company have been able to progress up to maintenance technician senior. My success within ATS is due in no small part to the myriad training courses offered, both online and in a traditional classroom setting, and the vast knowledge of the other maintenance technicians I have worked with and learned from at the three sites I have worked at since being hired. ATS allows and encourages it’s employees to expand their skill sets and provides the opportunities for a motivated individual to strengthen and hone their skills, especially in technical areas where one’s knowledge may be lacking.

Cons

I don’t really see any downsides to working for ATS. Coming from a military background, I was accustomed to working long days/nights, sometimes 16+ hours straight, so working for ATS and having a 8hr work day, with the opportunity for overtime if desired, has been an improvement for me as far as quality of life is concerned. The only adjustment I had to make was going from 30 days of paid vacation per year while serving in the military to 2 weeks when hired on. Even that aspect is bad as it is an industry standard and the longer you remain with the company, the more paid time off you accrue (3 weeks on your 5 year anniversary and 4 weeks on your 15 year anniversary, in addition to paid personal time off (PTO) which resets each year on the anniversary of your hire date). ATS is just a heat company to work for.

Heavy sales weak support

Pros

A growing company focused on sales sales sales

Cons

As a manager you are expected to deliver to unrealistic expectations with the weight of the world on your shoulders. The company is ran by a salesman that mostly cares about sales. The leadership talks a good game but in reality they leave managers to carry all the water. It is not a good place to work as a manager.

Make sure you get with someone in HR to share your thoughts on how ATS can best support site-level leadership.

Pros

Incomparable safety support. Site manager is very supportive of team.

Cons

Compensation is based on what you negotiate and not basic industry standards. Former supply chain specialist was paid more due to their previous salary with another company was higher than mine as a maintenance technician at ATS.
