Pros
Most of your lateral co workers are really supportive, nice people. They make the days easier and are very empathetic of your personal work struggles because chances are, they have the same ones. Some managers are actually in your corner and try to help you professionally any way they can.
Cons
Favoritism is the name of the game at this company. Certain VPs have close ties to employees and communicate with them outside of work, advising them on how to be more “likable” to their hire ups in order to get promoted. It’s true that the only way to advance in your career is to be agreeable and kiss up to everyone you can. The pay is not equal to the workload or up to industry standard. They even try to discourage/hush workers from talking about their salaries. In my department we realized that employees who had been there for 3+ years were being paid substantially less than new employees who have started within the last year. This was never brought up to management because everyone feared being targeted or discriminated against for speaking up. Management has a lot of issues over all. They’re clicky at higher levels and micro managers at lower levels. They lack empathy and would rather have their employees leave the company rather than address actually issues their subordinates face. Instead of taking in actually feedback they become combative and defensive of operations or unfair policies you may criticize. The CEO of the company consistently talks about revenue increase and the overall growth but they are unable to provide adequate raises or growth opportunities. Certain departments are favored unfairly and receive benefits because of their position, while everyone else is left over worked, underpaid, and under appreciated.
