Pros
Florida Hospital Waterman is truly committed to providing excellent care to all in our community. I have worked here a long time. It's not easy and it's not perfect, but it is fulfilling to work together with such a talented team to care for our own families and neighbors in their most difficult times. I believe our staff comes to work every day committed to work hard and do their best. The leadership team is motivated to listen, learn, and act to bring continual improvement. It's a journey, not a destination. I usually go home exhausted, but I come to work each day knowing I will be able to make a difference in the lives of my patients and colleagues.
My family passes other hospitals to come here for care, and not just because I work here. It's their hospital of choice. It makes me feel so proud to hear my parents' compliments about the doctors, nurses, techs, and others -- and they don't sugar-coat their opinions. Even better, I know that my parents are getting great care. I trust the people I work with.
I know this sounds like a commercial, but it's really how I feel. And I want people who believe that caring for others is an honor and a privilege, people who are committed to the relentless pursuit of excellence, to join our team and help us grow. If that's you, come check us out.
Cons
Healthcare is difficult. It's just hard to do it well. Human beings meeting each patient's individualized needs with evidence-based best practices in an ever-changing regulatory environment -- oh, and don't wreck the budget while you're at it -- seems impossible if you think about it too much. We're not perfect, but we won't stop trying to do better.
