Pros

Excellent benefits (insurance, etc.) Pay for RN's is decent relative to the rest of the country Great people to work with

Cons

Frequently short staffed Patient population can be difficult to work with (high levels of drug abuse, mental illness, and violence) Security is very lacking considering the high rate of crime in the area

Pros

Health benefits are great with dental and vision being extremely low compared to my partner's. They used to have a tuition reimbursement program for continuing education, however, got phased out due to budget cuts.

Cons

Unless you're in the medical field, job security is not the best. If you're not cut in the next cycle of workforce reductions, it's coworkers who have been there for a long period. Retention doesn't seem to be a priority.
