Pros

Fair market compensation, annual cost of living increases (though, I have not seen this yet), clearly-defined roles, scheduling accommodations for school (have to let them know well ahead of time), friendly and approachable management, good in-house benefits, fun, friendly and compassionate staff, varied clientele (though there is a cohort of "frequent fliers"), a number of opportunities for advancement via clinical ladder, options to cross-train in other specialties/departments, recent magnet status. hospital promotes good values and work ethic. clean and professional environment. good IT support. solid pharmacy support and always available. modern electronic equipment. excellent support from security team for codes.

Cons

It was hard to pick up extra shifts in psych due to all the new hires, but at least they were adequately staffed. (if you have med surge or ICU experience there are plenty of shifts to pick up). sometimes the census is low and your shift can get canceled. Their benefits and apps page is pretty clunky and takes some getting used to but I suppose it's not unusual. Very little interprofessional collaboration between nursing and social work, bordering on antagonistic at times. Some of the MDs and PsyDs do not consult with staff nurses and can come off as arrogant and disconnected. The Behavioral Health program director is a nice man but is generally aloof.
