Was fun while it lasted

Pros

At one point, Adwerx was a lot of fun. The people were wonderful and leadership was tolerable. The culture was strong and we were happy. Good benefits and PTO. Really cool office if you live near Raleigh/Durham. You can create a healthy work/life balance as long as you set your boundaries from the start. Room for growth if you stick it out.

Cons

You were considered a number the majority of the time, it seems like all they care about is revenue and will get it one way or another. Favoritism was incredibly prevalent and below-average pay for a lot of positions. Layoffs after a new CEO joined and now it seems there is a lot of restructuring that would create a lot of hesitation if someone new were to join the team.

Pros

Fantastic management, from the top all the way down. I know that every company thinks they have the best culture, but the Adwerx culture really is something special. Everybody has each other's backs and this place is full of some of the smartest, kindest, and hardest-working people I've ever met. SLT is approachable and empathetic, you always feel like your voice is heard. Leadership does a great job of celebrating our successes as a team and reflecting on and assessing areas of improvement in a collaborative and blameless way. Teams work well together and there are very few "meetings that could have been an email." The marketing team especially works well to support every other aspect of the business. There's not a single member of that team that doesn't go above and beyond in everything that they do. If you need something and can put together a case for why you need it, you get it. The product itself is fantastic, the benefits are amazing, pay is more than fair, but the amazing people are what drives Adwerx's continued success and keeps them here. Bonus: snacks/kegs in the office lead to some great impromptu happy hours/brainstorming sessions.

Cons

Honestly difficult to find any. Most are general growing pains that would come with any rapidly growing business (establishing who owns certain aspects is difficult as it is ever-changing).

Pros

Original leadership was committed, fair and treated employees well. Pay and benefits were fair.

Cons

The company tried to expand with a new product into a new market because they had tapped out their core industry of real estate. The rollout went badly and sales slumped so they laid off a bunch of people. Very sad.

Pros

The people were some of the best I’ve worked with and the benefits were great

Cons

Unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros. Things started going downhill with C-suite changes. No value for employee well being, toxic positively, ignored serious issues that affected employees. It’s well known that they pay WAY below standard. Not to mention they laid off 30% of employees with no warning. This was after new leadership said “no changes were being made”. You can start here to get your foot in the door but leave as soon as you can.

Pros

- Management does their best to set you up for success and make sure you have the tools and resources that you need to do your job well - Excellent culture built around compassion and humility; co-workers who advocate for one another - Blameless post-mortems - Good pay and growth opportunities - Relaxed atmosphere - Encouragement of a healthy work-life balance; management is very respectful of your life outside of work - Emphasis on hiring for the right culture fit, not just hiring based on technical skill-set alone

Cons

None that come to mind.

Some Good Stuff

Pros

Really enjoyed the people- great team and more diverse than most places. Also WFH is fantastic. Loved some of the cultural pieces.

Cons

Pay is under average. Sales side has less opportunity than in the past. Every month is the most important month in company history so expect to work extra at a decrease in pay. Many were promoted but ended up making LESS than pre-promotion. Promotions and pay raises can be really hard to come by.

An amazing place to learn(because of the people)

Pros

They are amazing people to work with. The best asset this company has are, without any doubt, the people. I have learned so much during my time at this company. I went from customer service - answering questions on the phone, to technical success engineer - fixing feeds, coding a solution to a problem. This is one of the best places to grow. The way that you are allowed to solve a problem is very open. They care about you getting the job done, not going by the "book". You are writing the book.

Cons

The pay is lower than average. The workload is greater than the average After four rounds of layoffs, there is no understanding of the future of the company.

Pros

The people I work with are some of the best professionally and personally, I have ever met. They are brilliant, clever, thoughtful, and consistently act without hubris, nor do they attempt to save face in light of a mistake. Owning the damage an error may cause is treated as a learning opportunity. As the company is a startup, the ability for a person to interact with a person from every department to resolve some issue or meet the expectations of a partner is common. This is the best opportunity to learn and gain an understanding of how the business works, from the conference, calls with the partner's admin on the phone, to a quick meeting with the account manager(s) to clarify a partner's request. The engineering meetings are very informative and detailed. middle management and the engineering side of the company is rock solid. Smart competent people are in the places that they should be in to make very real, positive gains.

Cons

The salary for the work is not worth the time. You won't make money above a living salary here. The workload is the heaviest I've ever seen and unending. C-suite managers(Directors) are far removed from the stress of the business.
