Startup vibe in an established company - Best of both worlds

Pros

This review is mostly specific to the New York office, but I've got only awesome things to say about the company overall. I work with such an amazing group of hardworking, supportive individuals in the NY office. I've worked at several other companies in New York, and I've never felt so at home. From my first day, everyone made me feel welcome and appreciated. Adyen is a global company with 700+ employees, but the New York team only has 20+ people and really feels like a family. We have the support of departments and teams all over the world, but we're also able to walk over and chat with every coworker in the office easily. We're in a brand new office near Union Square with a roof deck, and they've done a great job of making the office a fun space to work in (shout out to our kombucha/cold brew coffee kegerator!). We have monthly updates with Amsterdam HQ, and frequent catchups with our other US office in San Francisco. We even travel out to SF 3x a year to bring the entire US team together for workshops/speaker events/team outings. Each new employee gets to travel to Amsterdam for onboarding, and we have a full-company retreat in the Netherlands every year. The company prioritizes communication and collaboration, from the top down, and it really shows.

Cons

There can be some lag between offices when it comes to email responses and follow ups, but that's the norm with any international company. Since New York is in between our SF and Amsterdam offices, we have time in the morning to catch up with Europe, and time in the afternoon to see what SF is up to. Since we're a smaller team in NY, we're not as structured as some of the larger offices. Employees have a lot of autonomy, and are responsible for their own success. For me, that's a huge plus, but it may be negative for people who need more day-to-day support. The larger offices have more departments and structure built in, which I'm sure NY will have as it grows.

Pros

The people, the opportunities and the continuous growth. Company culture is key within Adyen and you notice that in every office. A flat structure with the possible to have immediate impact.

Cons

None in my opinion.
