A Grateful Reflection on 25 Years with Aegis Living
Pros
Twenty-five years ago, I began my journey with Aegis Living as a care manager and server. I was not that young, new to the country, and unsure of what the future would hold. What I found at Aegis was not just a job—it was a calling. Over the years, I discovered my true passion: serving and caring for seniors during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. Slowly but surely, I grew—both as a person and as a professional—within a company that truly saw and valued my dedication. The seniors I cared for not only gave me purpose; they helped me learn English, taught me patience, and showed me the importance of empathy. I was there to support them, but in many ways, they were also supporting me. The love and support I received extended far beyond the residents. Their families, my coworkers, and the leadership at Aegis embraced me with kindness, respect, and encouragement. I gave my heart to this work, and in return, I received so much more than I ever expected. I eventually became a General Manager, and I was honored to be recognized as one of the company’s top leaders—not just by the home office, but by the residents, their families, and my incredible team. Aegis was there for me during personal challenges and pivotal moments in my life. Even more special is the fact that all three of my daughters worked at Aegis while they were in school. Today, each of them acknowledges that the values they learned there—work ethic, empathy, and professionalism—have helped shape their successful careers. As I enter retirement, I do so with a heart full of gratitude. Aegis Living gave me a meaningful life, a fulfilling career, and the opportunity to serve with dignity and love. I will always be thankful for the family I found here, and I will carry the memories and lessons of the past 25 years with me forever. Thank you, Aegis Living.
Cons
Learning to give all to our seniors not knowing if we will see them again the next day.
