Good first job for recruiting experience, but be prepared to work 50-60 hour weeks!
Pros
1. Culture: The culture is probably the best thing about Aerotek. Mostly everyone gets along great, go out to happy hours together, and office outings are fun. 3. Good first job: Offers a lot of experience and will teach you what you need to be successful. They allow you some room to meet contractors our for breakfast, coffee or lunch, which can be easily expensed. 2. Opportunities for growth: They lay it out as to what the next steps may be and will let you decide on how you'd like to shape your career at Aerotek.
Cons
1. Management: Aerotek does not emphasize leadership skills and barely offers any management training, so you have a bunch of 25 to 30 year olds managing a group of about 2 to 4 recruiters. You will be micromanaged that Aerotek (unless you get lucky with one or two managers who don't). You constantly have a manager who breaths down your neck about your numbers on a day to day basis. 2. Hours: They stress work/life balance all the time, but if you are working less than 50 hours a week... prepare to explain why you are lacking initiative around the office. 3. Salary/Compensation: The base salary is extremely low for the amount of work/time that goes into recruiting for Aerotek. They tell you that the commission is uncapped (which is true), but it's extremely hard to earn decent commission. From day one, you are faced with attrition and you are gauged on your ability to effectively recruit based upon on commission. 4. Quotas: You are held to a lot of different numbers, which may change on a quarterly basis. 5. Your success at Aerotek is very much dependent upon whether or not you have a tenured or great sales manager. They say that everyone has the same opportunities, but that's not true when what you work on is dictated by your manager, whose only goal is his own success. 6. If management finds out that you are seeking other avenues outside of Aerotek, there's a really good chance you will be relieved of your position. If you are not living and breathing Aerotek, then you can't be part of their team. The retention rates at Aerotek is low because of all of the above.
