Pros

Good pay and in general a good culture where senior management shows genuine concern for and support for their employees. Company is very stable as well.

Cons

Some managers show extreme favoritism, while others show zero interest in the development of their employees. Long-standing social 'niches' make it very difficult for new employees and especially contractors to feel included.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. Senior management, including the CEO, is committed to ensuring all employees feel valued and heard. We recently held Town Hall meetings open to all staff and encouraged open dialogue to help us better understand the views of our employees. We value this feedback as it helps us improve and create a better workplace for everyone. We continuously work on increasing transparency and communication between all levels of the organization. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and would like to learn more about your concerns. If you have specific suggestions or further details, please feel free to share them with HR or 800-845-1745.

Pros

My team members care about me as a human being.

Cons

Senior leadership is horrendous. At a meeting today the CHRO announced that we are all going to go through an assessment to make sure we are capable of doing our jobs. He said there will be terminations. This effort is being led by one of the CHRO’s friends that is a highly paid consultant. Senior leadership keeps failing and the grunt workers are threatened. This is the most flexing of muscles so that the senior leaders can keep maintaining their power without changing. For over a year now the CHRO has touted there will be a huge transformation and nothing has happened. Senior leadership is all talk and no action.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. While we respect your opinion and value feedback from our AgFirst colleagues, the message from the meeting you reference has apparently been misunderstood. All such meetings are recorded to be shared internally with those who cannot attend. We encourage you to watch this recording (available on the HR Teams page), which may give you a different perspective of the message relayed. You may also note that in the meeting, the Chief Human Resources Officer repeatedly asked for feedback and for staff to share any concerns during or after the meeting with him or their director or supervisor. As part of the transformation you reference, we are taking the necessary and standard step to assess everyone’s skills and review job descriptions. As stated in the meeting, these efforts are intended to put our HR staff in the best possible position for success and to maximize the quality and efficiency of the work produced in the department. There are no plans or intent for anyone to be terminated as a result of this assessment, and no such announcement was made. In the spirit of full transparency, it was stated that if responsibilities changed so drastically that some felt they would not want to work in the adjusted role, we would support that person should they desire to pursue another role within HR, in another department at AgFirst or outside the organization. This realignment is being led by the CHRO in collaboration with other leaders in the HR department. The consultant you reference serves only as an advisor. He was brought on because of his extensive knowledge and experience in helping organizations progress through transformational work. Any assertion otherwise is simply untrue. Planned follow-up meetings will allow all HR staff many opportunities to continue dialogue related to the HR transformation. We encourage you attend the meetings to share your concerns so that the CHRO and HR leaders can address those matters in the appropriate manner. We have made great progress toward our transformational work and appreciate the individual and collective efforts of our HR staff toward reaching our goal of delivering best-in-class and next-in-class people-centered human capital services and solutions.
