Potential but upper management needs to change

Pros

One step forward, two steps back. Agile IT offers cloud solutions that many other companies aren't even aware exist. That also means we sometimes offer services that aren't ready yet. Time management is flexible. I can work remotely sometimes. I've seen a few people sent to official Microsoft training this year. There's an Xbox, but I have one at home so I never use the one in the office. Our documentation is better than most, but engineering doesn't deliver it consistently. We're "cross-trained" so there's no accountability when a task isn't completed.

Cons

We used to review financials weekly at team meetings, but that stopped last year. We just laid off a few people. Characterizing that as a "growing company" seems misleading, but so are our other practices. We are routinely told to inform our clients that our team has 50+ people when we have fewer than 20 FTE's. Were a "data driven" company, but I have no metrics showing my growth over the years. Benefits aren't the best as others have mentioned. The other recent review about upper management being difficult to reach is also accurate. The CTO disappears for weeks/months at a time. The CEO will often skip your meeting to take his kids to baseball, but forget to tell you he won't be attending. The COO is overly process-oriented but great. I heard he's retiring though. New VP is good so far. I'm not a fan of the sink or swim training. Some people have advanced, but I don't have any personal goals or KPIs assigned to me from management. You're expected to "forge your own path" but not really provided any guidance on how to do that.

Pros

they are a family of six friendly dogs, five hard working technical implementers, four responsive support and development staff, three dedicated sales and marketing people, two sociable project managers, and a street-smart CEO.

Cons

Tenacious swearing is an internal culture norm as well as a high level of unconscious bias in the form of perception and confirmation bias. Expect after hours calls from the CEO asking you inquisitive / invasive questions about your personal life until your response is judged acceptable.

Pros

Maggie is a great asset--she keeps her customers happy. Rob is the best messaging engineer I've ever worked with. I will also confirm that the marketing guy is "rad af." Plenty of opportunities to learn. I learned a lot. Friendly customers. They'll teach you to swim...if you ask. Maggie asked how to be Help Desk Manager, and now she's the Help Desk Manager.

Cons

I left to focus on AI, which was out of their wheelhouse at the time. One guy left to be with his family. Another guy with no cloud experience coming in got a crazy offer after a few years. Life happens. People retire. You keep going. Overall, I would not characterize Agile as any better/worse or more/less exciting than other companies. If you get an interview and you're concerned about benefits/FMLA/stability/culture, then ask. Then you can decide if they're pros or cons. It's an SMB, not a Fortune 100. To the other reviewer looking for someone to mentor you, if you're in engineering, there was no shortage of virtual hands-on labs and training material when I was there. Maggie knows where they are. Just ask. If no one answers, ask louder.
