Not bad for a large corporation

Pros

I got to work from home. Adequate compensation. I worked in small multi disciplined group.

Cons

Big company, little chance for rapid advancement or feeling like major contributor or having personal choice. Pretty tight purse strings. Poor IT support. Weak management. They extolled work life balance, but actually it was mostly a lot of work. Laid off entire department when they could easily have repurposed a good team of engineers.

Pros

Fun projects, excellent cross-functional teams, experienced work force and constant innovation. Excellent internal training programs. Very fair layoff packages.

Cons

A bit brutalist when they shut down a product line, not a lot of time to find work internally before the layoff takes effect.

Pros

Good benefits, competitive salary, bonus and reward system, plays by the rules as far as I know. Has an ethical culture at the worker level meaning that they treat full time professionals humanely (I can't vouch for contract workers). Lower level managers I have had have been competent and even likeable.

Cons

Gradually moving away from the benevolent model to become more like other corporations. Replacing older experienced and expensive older workers with cheap talent without an appreciation of the long term consequences. Focused on the stock analysts and the quarter, blah, blah. It is hard to be a real star at the contributor level. The company is just too big.
