Pros
Retention - Many managers enable their employees to move laterally or encourage them to take on other roles as the employee's skill set expands. Benefits - Really good... options to choose HMO and PPOs + dental & eye coverage (in US), life insurance, 401K matching, charity matching, extra days off when the company does well, FSA and HSA options, flexible time off, and more... Broad portfolio addressing many market areas in health care and research (=lots of interesting opportunities). Some (not all) very good Sr. and Executive Managers that really care about their employees. Reach out to current employees to see if the role you are considering is headed by one of the exceptional leaders.
Cons
Larger companies come with more infrastructure and more red tape, so Agilent is certainly not as fast-paced as a start up or a medium sized company. Prepare to be patient if you are moving from a small organization to Agilent. Not a great track record with acquisitions in some divisions (Google to find more details). Proceed with caution if you are considering taking a job with any recently (within the last 3 years) acquired company.
