Pros

Retention - Many managers enable their employees to move laterally or encourage them to take on other roles as the employee's skill set expands. Benefits - Really good... options to choose HMO and PPOs + dental & eye coverage (in US), life insurance, 401K matching, charity matching, extra days off when the company does well, FSA and HSA options, flexible time off, and more... Broad portfolio addressing many market areas in health care and research (=lots of interesting opportunities). Some (not all) very good Sr. and Executive Managers that really care about their employees. Reach out to current employees to see if the role you are considering is headed by one of the exceptional leaders.

Cons

Larger companies come with more infrastructure and more red tape, so Agilent is certainly not as fast-paced as a start up or a medium sized company. Prepare to be patient if you are moving from a small organization to Agilent. Not a great track record with acquisitions in some divisions (Google to find more details). Proceed with caution if you are considering taking a job with any recently (within the last 3 years) acquired company.

Pros

The people there are great. Very personable, very professional. Pay grades are competitive in the industry.

Cons

Workloads are high enough to essentially force overtime. The Complaint investigators are on salary, and thus not compensated for the overtime hours.

Pros

The company has great products and tries to operate with integrity and values. Some staff are great to work with. Benefits and paid time off are about average for the industry.

Cons

I am part of an understaffed regulatory group and it seems like some of the other chem/bio regulatory groups are understaffed, as well. Onboarding has been chaotic, partially because established staff are too busy to help with onboarding and partially because I started at an unpropitious time (a few other regulatory staff departed the company this past summer amidst a large IT project).
