Pros

travel, food, money, time off. Never got to use any benefits or get the bonus

Cons

I found it difficult to navigate management at detour lake mine for Electrical Technologist position, There was no workflow, no engineering change management process, no revision control from a electrical design and control perspective. I believe I was set up for failure and my concerns wernt taken seriously. The company made it difficult to perform the work I was assigned by saying I wasn't a electrician and coulnt open electrical panels to verify the circuits and trace circuits but was told to reverse engineer the electrical systems as there were no drawings. They did not have a workflow to facilitate delegating the work for a electrician to do. I was a 5th year 309a registered apprentice there and they would claim that I coulnt even open a control cabinet to verify and trace circuits to "reverse engineer" and draw a set of schematics for them, yet didnt direct me to perform the work any other way and had no system or workflow in place to accept changes from the field and update drawings. I honestly think its a shame, that a over qualified worker almost a licensed electrician is talked down to and restricted in their work duties in a unfair way that directly impacts their job and performance. While I was there I was told that I shoulnt earn as much as their first year apprentice does, that only indigenous people get to apprentice here, and that all I am is a office worker who does nothing all day. I was even told that my job doesn't matter. My boss gaslighted me, saying one thing then claiming he never said that to start arguments, or would never be present or provide constructive guidance, include me in any formal discussion or meetings. The role itself has high turn over for this reason and not many people want to do it. They didnt honor the apprenticeship agreement that they agreed to and signed, and terminated me without cause, citing my interest for perusing my license and looking to receive career development and advancement, that they did not want me to get, that they claimed only indigenous people can.
