Pros

The coworkers that turned into lifelong friends

Cons

If you make your monthly sales goal, they raise it to prevent you from taking home a larger bonus check. They put systems in place to make sure you can't grow your salary at a faster pace than they feel you should, such as territory management to force your goal to be just out of reach. If you have a great year and make your sales goals, therefore taking home a bonus check each month, you can plan on the opposite the following year. They sell you on the idea of a glass ceiling and unlimited growth in sales but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Toxic Environment/Bad Management

Pros

Good worklife balance and pay

Cons

Some of the management here are rude, they use threat tactics as a method of managing, when in reality it's discouraging and it just pushes employees away, or maybe that's what they do when they want someone gone? Micro-management exists here and the overly privileged attitudes of some of the staff/management is really gross. A toxic work environment, for sure. Also, not a very progressive company on several levels.

Pros

The use of specialty gases.

Cons

Despite the current state of the Coronavirus Pandemic that the nation is experiencing, Airgas has no integrity, nor respect for their employees. They'd rather have their employees come in and risk their health than to allow them to work from home. The government provided clear instructions to wash hands, stay home and dont socially involve yourself with parties more than 10 people, yet employees are stuck in an office for 8 hours or more in open spaces with hundreds of people. Employees, their health and their well being means absolutely nothing to Airgas.

Airgas Response
6y
Safety comes first at Airgas, and we’re continuing to prioritize the safety of our customers, associates and the communities we serve during our COVID-19 response. Because our business touches so many critical aspects of the U.S. supply chain - from healthcare and pharmaceuticals, to food production, water treatment, power and energy, to name a few - Airgas has been listed as an essential supplier by multiple federal agencies. We've modified our daily work to keep associates safe and have implemented social distancing, visitor and travel restrictions and work separation approaches, including splitting teams into separate shifts, providing PPE for our front line associates, and shifting to a work from home mode when possible. Our associates and their loved ones' well-being are the lifeblood of the Airgas family, which has prompted us to make swift changes to help protect, cover and care for them during this troubling time. Please contact your manager and/or HR representative to discuss any questions or concerns.
