Pros

The mission and service to the Alameda County community with underserved and under-represented health care needs.

Cons

Lack of understanding and sensitivity by senior leadership in the mission and staff morale. For example, a key senior exec would habitually be late for all meetings, leave early and be disengaged from the details or meaningful substantive operations of the organization. A real dearth of leadership and inspiration. Politically correct platitudes are offered instead. The Board by design has conflicts of interests insofar as they also contract with the Alliance as health care providers. This has not worked in several important instances in the past as the Board has made decisions that harm the organization but help their individual interests.

Pros

Benefits, pays, location and Holiday parties.

Cons

You can only drink the cool aid for so long. Won’t take long until you notice how unhappy everyone around you really are. Horrible managements in every department, people hate their managers so much here I feel bad for them, and yes, some people voice their opinion to hr and then end up quitting because of retaliation. Management lack empathy and run their department like a tyrant. The culture is so unfair you would think someone on top is guiding these managers to fail. The only people that stay with the alliance are people who have nowhere else to go.

Alameda Alliance for Health Response

Response from Alliance CEO: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are very sorry to hear this about your experience at the Alliance. For more than two decades, Alliance team members have worked together to serve an important mission in our community, and we strongly believe that this is what makes the Alliance one of the best places to work in the Bay Area. From our members to our providers, community partners, and staff, we understand that people are our most valuable asset, and together we make one team. We have worked hard to put several tools, resources, and committees in place to build our team members up, and we have seen tremendous growth in our stakeholder satisfaction across the spectrum. We recognize that this is an ongoing and continuous process. As we value all of our current and former employees’ feedback, I would be happy to learn more about what specifically it was, that was not positive during your time here, and your ideas on how we can continue to grow in these areas. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at 1.510.747.6115. We wish you all the best. Sincerely yours, Scott CEO, Alameda Alliance for Health

Member Services - Excellent Opportunity

Pros

Excellent benefits. Good opportunity to promote within Member Services and throughout the company. Member Services is the only department with a solid and thorough training program that invests in its' reps to succeed. Friendly environment within the department and throughout some departments in the organization.

Cons

Consistent push back from certain departments when it comes to new processes or change. Some departments are very one-directional and do not work together as a whole to attain company values or goals. Also, too many hurdles to get certain policies and procedures implemented. Policies are not enforced the same throughout the company as whole and varies by departments creating tension/rivalries.
