I can’t imagine beginning (or pursuing) a career in a better place.

Pros

This is truly an ideal workplace. Within my own department, there is a great level of respect for one another and a healthy drive to succeed. However, the people I have met throughout the company are also ambitious, thoughtful young professionals. Our physical location is great. DC is a quick metro ride away, and the malls and restaurants nearby in Tysons Corner are a nice additional perk of working here. The company’s benefits are extremely good and show the real investment and interest that Alarm.com has in its employees’ health, wellness, and quality of life. Whether you are tech-savvy or not, the products that come from our engineers are incredible. Many of the in-home security devices are easy to use, and the company’s mobile app is equally impressive and clean. The quality of our products is one more reason to be proud to work here. There are many different kinds of social events that really set this company apart from others and improve and foster employee relations. From luncheons and sporting events to the yearly retreat, the company prioritizes maintaining and consistently bettering employee satisfaction. Your attire is more or less what you make it. Some people dress fairly casually while others sport the suit and tie look more often. The option to choose either style on any given day is nice. No matter your job within the company, you will have thorough training at the start of your employment so that you can learn about all facets of the company.

Cons

The location of the office means traffic can get a little chaotic around rush hour, but there are ways to minimize this issue.

Pros

The group of people I work with is tight-knit and more motivated than at any other place I've ever worked. No one is here for a paycheck, everyone here is working to make the company, product, and services we offer be the best they can possibly be. There are lots of opportunities to create your own place in the company, and our culture is very employee-created rather than leadership-forced as I've experienced elsewhere. It's great to work for a place where all of my coworkers genuinely believe in what we do and want to work at being the best at everything they're involved in.

Cons

No real cons, but there are challenges associated with being part of a rapidly-growing company, though most of these end up being an opportunity to be part of shaping the company, and that's exciting.
