Pros

Easy way to get field work experience and great adventure. Get to see a part of the world wouldn't have otherwise. Worked out of Dutch Harbor, AK, spent majority of time aboard fishing vessels on Bering Sea.

Cons

1 year contract during which no control over when you work. I did get the holidays off, however (not the case for everyone). 90 day deployments away from home.

Pros

Unique experience - see cool things, go places where most people will never go, and experience things people can't even imagine. Great job after college, make some money while getting great experience in the work force. Get paid per day, regardless if you work or not. Good introduction to the fishing industry, maybe you want to work for them instead! (They usually pay better too)

Cons

Pay isn't impressive. By the end of 2 years you will max out their pay grade. Raises happen on certain number of days spent at sea. Think about this, you are spending your life on board a vessel where you have no life .... so is the money per day worth it? .... also seasickness
