Pros

Alcoa does offer various flexible work arrangements, but the work load prohibits people from being able to use this benefit.

Cons

Work load is very demanding, and company life tends to be very dramatic and political. Supervisors and managers tend to fuel the political drama.

Good company, but can be much better

Pros

Benefits and pay are good; big emphasis on product quality and worker safety over profits. Generally a very good work environment

Cons

Bad managers are kept around and left to their own devices instead of being forced out or corrected. Fragmented leadership structure means systemic problems tend not to get solved. Managers will listen to your complaints, agree with you that there's a problem, and say "There's nothing I can do about it."

Pros

The D 10 dozer and the fixed rail crane is a lot of fun to operate. Always overtime if you want it.

Cons

Being redirected after setting up a job due to the lack of communication in management.
