Pros

Negotiating power, cash reserves, promotion of safety culture. Good work / life balance. The split into the value add company (which will include all UK sites) and the commodity company should improve opportunities.

Cons

Everything based on numbers, too big and corporate, very American culture. Little visibility / infrequent and fleeting visits by high level management. Not the best paying around.

Pros

Good benefits, medical and 401k matching. Big company and lots of hiring internally so there's potential to move up within the company even if it's not within your division. Very recognizable name that looks good on a resume.

Cons

High expectations and high workload is not for all people. Job responsibilities often ranged outside of written job description. Established systems were hard to change even if there was a significant business case to do so.
