Poorly managed, no long term plan, downright sexist management

Pros

Decent pay for Dallas, nice office, good location. Solid opportunity to do something different as a developer. Nice option for bonuses and bounties. CEO is great, but too unavailable to offset incompetence elsewhere.

Cons

COO actively refused to promote female employees instead of lesser qualified male employees. Functioning teams were dismantled overnight to "project team" with not enough resources for those teams. Someone on the executive team reads an article on LinkedIn, and tries to implement it the next day. Being creeped on by a founder.

While I do not agree with all of your conclusions, I can see from your comments we did not live-up to our expectation that each Alkamist know and feel he or she is a valued team member with equal opportunities. Although we work in a challenging and fast-paced environment we strive every moment to be a phenomenal place to work, learn, grow, thrive and have fun. This could be a great company to work for... but it's not.

Pros

Very cool product to build and market. Sandwiches and Chick-Fil-A brought in for lunch daily. Nice office building with covered parking.

Cons

Pay is satisfactory, but other benefits are substandard. Constantly shifting priorities and continual asks for late nights and weekend work with no material or simple sincere acknowledgements of appreciation erode the culture. Employees are sometimes called out in meetings with 'thanks for your extra work, but it wasn't what we needed' when managements' priorities shift. There is a competitive, not cooperative, relationship between development and implementations that lead to a dysfunctional work environment. Company is continually selling ahead of its capabilities, creating an environment of high stress and low reward. Verbal promises of bonuses and raises are sometimes not honored even when goals are met.
