Pros

The environment is laid back. Colleagues are generally (emphasis on the generally) easy to get along with and there are a few very good, hard working people. Not a bad place to get your foot in the door for a few months for experience, but no more than that.

Cons

As many mentioned, salary is extremely low and the benefits are pretty bad as well. Nepotism runs rampant (I understand it is a family business, but there are literally no to very little room for advancement if you are an outsider). HR is not very helpful as it's not employee friendly. The company has even made employees sign NDA agreements to not badmouth or write negative reviews) because employees are getting fed up with some of the things that are happening. Employees have been forced out in recent months. While the environment is laid back, sometimes it is too lax with the way some employees behave (if you are sensitive to racist or sexual remarks, I would advise against working here).

Pros

The Company is growing and there is a lot of change.

Cons

There are very few issues on the downside. The Company is lean and mean and you do not get the opportunity to join a Company at this phase of its growth very often.

Pros

I used to work at Allen Flavors for several years. I started off in production. I got promoted to the shipping department. From the shipping department, I got promoted to the beverage development lab as a lab technician. I made it up to Jr. Beverage Developer before I left Allen Flavors due to family reasons. As you can see, there are opportunities for promotions. I don’t understand why some other reviews would say no promotions. I guess they didn’t do a good job. As far as benefits, I still received a bonus and a raise every year even during the recession. They still had a holiday party and company picnic as well as other employee related activities during the recession. My friend who works for Pepsi told me that they did away with the parties due to the recession. Overall, I had a great experience at Allen Flavors. Management trained me well and made me an asset to the company.

Cons

Starting salary is lower than some companies. After you prove yourself, the salaries are comparable and sometimes exceed other companies.
