Absolutely terrible place to work

Pros

I have no pros, I used to think highly of this company when I started and I no longer do.

Cons

Executives and directors treat employees like numbers, they get paid outrageous amounts, like a 1.7million dollar bonus for the CEO, but employees are being dragged through the mud. Employees are being let go often, "early leave packages", work groups are getting cut in half to save money. That 1.7mil could've gone a long way to save employees jobs. And instead, the remaining half of the work groups and forced to take on double the work load, added stress, with zero additional compensation. Alliant Energy claims to have such a great culture, yet it's a toxic culture and environment to work in. My mental health has taken a huge hit. My family is feeling the stress of this job unfortunately. Any employees who have left in the past few years talk about how much better the culture is where they went. It probably doesn't take much to have a better work culture than this though. I would not recommend this company to anyone anymore.

Horrible Company Culture

Pros

Benefits are decent. Work life balance is possible but you will be pressured to fit 60 hours worth of work in 40 hour time frame.

Cons

Company cultured has been poor since November 2021 layoffs and continue to plummet. Attempts to bring in more contractors with very little training to gelp current staff, but contractors just add to full-time team members workload. Pushing IT projects though without much improvement. Leadership actions do not match their statements. Cryptic statements leave more questions and uncertain outcomes. IT department move away from one, three or even five year plans. IT secuity is an afterthought.
