Toxic workplace

Pros

Remote work and that’s about it.

Cons

Lots of long time employees and with that is some ingrained toxicity that HR needs to get a handle on and force some company wide training on how to communicate professionally and how to treat others with respect. It’s hilarious how a place talks about workplace culture yet is rude and downright nasty to others. Some of that is even coming from the top. Good luck retaining new employees. No one will put up with the kind of nasty things that were experienced here, today a lot less people will tolerate this. It’s a competitive job market so you will lose people if you don’t root out the employees who think just because they’ve worked there for over a decade means they can treat people any way they want.

Pros

- The pay was very competitive for my range, although it might have been because I was part of an acquisition (of which they had several) and the pay didn't change from one company to another - Pay and advancement opportunities depended on lot which manager you get. I had a good one, so + - During the acquisition, they (at least) said they were understanding of challenges

Cons

- The hours consistently increases as they cut more and more of any support services we had, despite the fact that employees were complaining across departments that the workload was excessive - We did not receive proper training for the systems, which one of their platform trainers admitted to - In some of the training, they made us do a recorded song and dance about the company in an effort to show company pride to other branches but were told it was mandatory???? - Typical superficial "we're all family" stuff from management, which you'll get in every company, but it was particularly offensive coming from a company that 1) cared so little about its employees and 2) put such little effort and money into at least trying to create a better work atmosphere - Never knew what was going on with the company. They sent out these emails about who they hired recently in upper or upper-middle management, or if they made an acquisition, but it usually didn't affect me. For larger things, I ended up finding out by googling the company and seeing an article a week before they sent us the email or told supervisors. - All in all, like many place without work/life balance, it was a depressing atmosphere with unhappy people

Pros

Some nice people, free food, stable work

Cons

Heavy workload. Promotions and appropriate titles rarely given. Severe lack of support/training when taking on a book; actual trainers tell you to go elsewhere for help. Corporate cares more about acquiring new agencies and appeasing their shareholders than providing better benefits and pay for the employees.
