A Struggling Company

Pros

There are some good people at Allscripts. You have to search to find them, but they have deep experience and come from varied backgrounds. Pay ranges for most positions are good but you have to make sure you negotiate for your desired salary up front. Don't expect to get to your desired salary later through merit increases. Benefits overall are are average. Not great but not bad either.

Cons

The company has grown revenue almost exclusively through acquisitions. The result is a product suite that feels cobbled together. It doesn't work well for customers. Customer attrition is a big problem, and the company can't win deals to replace those customers as long as Epic and Cerner are around. Layoffs seem frequent and across-the-board pay cuts have occurred, even for top performers. The stock price has been stagnant for 15 years. Health benefits are weak.

Pros

Employees are mostly very diligent, professional, dedicated and hard working people. This despite being underpaid, unappreciated and treated like second class citizens.

Cons

Corporate leadership is awful and incompetent. Just look at the company performance over the past few years compared to the industry average. Executives are a very elitist, self absorbed, dishonest clique with no sense of direction and vision. Overpaid. Over pampered. Underachievers. Generally management is not as bad as the senior leadership team but not much better either. Motivated by office politics and very close minded with little regard for employee opinions or concerns. Second tier citizens tasked to manage the 3rd class citizens. There is absolutely no recognition or reward from management. Never a thank you or pat on the back. Raises are awful. No bonus program except for the upper classes. Each year the benefits program gets cut here and there leadership whines about the cost and tells the underlings they must pay more. Employees must rely on one of those peer recognition programs that offers points so you can by cheap products and other garbage from a limited catalog.
