Pros

Insurance is a recession proof business. Every car on the road, and every home in your neighborhood has insurance. If you have no sales experience this is an excellent place to learn and grow. Working in the insurance business will put you in contact with car dealerships, mortgage brokers, real estate agents and other insurance agents. Building relationships with these folks is what will bring in business (outside of standard cold calling) and create a bright future.

Cons

Allstate Specific: The "Pro" experience is generally what you can expect from any insurance agency. However, Allstate is a franchise, so each agency is going to differ from one another and therefore the experience one would have from agency to agency would also change. One agency owner might pay more than others, one might be a better mentor / leader than others. There are thousands of Allstate agents across the United States and no sales experience is going to be identical. But the "pros" are still going to remain constant no matter what agency you find yourself in. --- The biggest Con actually comes from the middle management and above. There has been a large shift in technology and agency support during the pandemic which has left a lot of agencies questioning the direction of Corporate. If you asked any Agency owner today what their biggest issue with Allstate Corporate is, they would probably say Compensation Changes or Agency Voice.
