Pros

Benefits are offered. The PTO time is pretty good although only 4 adjusters can take off at one time. It's an average work week working till 5:30pm. Occasional happy hour. I had a really great and encouraging boss for part of my time there. Allstate has a great name. The older folks at Allstate really believe in the company and it's vision.

Cons

Work one Saturday each month. Hard to take off days during the holidays with no seniority. The work load is a lot! The environment can be very negative sometimes due to customers complaining and causing heartache for the employees. Pretty much everyone complains about their job the whole day and how they want to have a drink later on. Lots of negative vibes... if you ask me. This does not make my day enjoyable. It does not seem that anyone actually wants to be there. If they do, they tend to remain quiet. Although it's a 40 hour work week most adjusters put in more time than that. Many adjusters stay later to complete the tasks. You must be pretty organized to be successful in this role. Task management is key! The task flow is pretty hard to keep up with. You should know what kind of personality you have (MBTI) to see if you are good fit. Otherwise you will not be satisfied. If you are detail oriented and love to sit at a desk then you may like this role. Most people that get hired already know someone at Allstate. And of course everyone would agree that claims adjusters don't get paid enough especially at Allstate. Allstate is cutting jobs for processors and putting more work for the adjusters. The amount of task that adjusters are responsible for is asinine. Other insurance carriers pay more. I think job satisfaction is what all the millennials are lacking here, but yet it's the millennials that are often found looking for jobs at these companies such as Allstate. Advice: DO NOT SETTLE. Find something you enjoy doing or you won't last long!

Pros

Cars will always crash, homes will always be affected by hazards.

Cons

You’ll probably die of a stress induced heart attack by 40, if you don’t get laid off first.

Pros

The Michigan Claims Office is terrible, but the Regional Office is decent for Marketing, Sales, Product Jobs.

Cons

The PIP Office crushes every adjuster with too many claims to follow up on. A PIP adjuster for objective injury claims should have only 80 claims - 4 per day in a 20-day work month, but Allstate hammers its objective adjusters with 120 - 140 claims. Once you take a week of vacay, YOU WILL NEVER CATCH UP, unless you’re okay with cutting corners, which I wasn’t. The entire Claims organization doesn’t give a damn about adjusters because this is a public company that ONLY cares about its stock price. They are ALWAYS UNDERSTAFFED because adding adjusters increases costs and drives down the stock price, which they’ll never do. DON’T TAKE A PIP JOB!!!
