Pros

- access to resources - a lot of great tools, publications, peers, ERGs, budget for professional development - in-office perks - if you have to go in, at least the offices are really nice with food, beverages, office supplies, and more - career transparency - clear idea of career progression and what is expected of you to get promoted to the next opportunity - autonomy - the firm gives employees very high levels of autonomy and the opportunity to work independently on projects at a very young age

Cons

- cares about profits, not the people who work there - recently made a ton of cuts, hiring freezes, work model changes, and other decisions that only seem to help the firm's bottom line at the expense of employee experience and trust - anti-anyone over the age of 25 - the company employs a large volume fresh out of college employees in the first role in their career. That being said, the office environment, policies, perks, events, caters to this group and this group only. If you are a parent, have a longer commute, or just value more WFH over a free snacks and a weekly happy hour, then AlphaSights is not the place for you. - blind leading the blind - a majority of leadership is born and bread AlphaSights employees, and many of these individuals don't have any actual experience or expertise in the positions they hold, and when AlphaSights actually decides to loosen the purse strings on an external hire, these individuals are widely ignored or disregarded. - rigidity - AlphaSights really backed themselves into a corner by trying to make every role at the firm have set remits and almost guaranteed promotion to that next stage given high-performance. But this means that many people get bored in the role because they mastered it much more quickly but cannot move up for 1+ years, or there is no room for negotiation with salary even if someone is performing better than another manager in the same position.

Thank you for your review and for sharing your experience. We hope to address a few of the concerns you have raised. We're committed to hiring and promoting based on merit, and all individuals involved in our recruiting process go through interview training and unconscious bias training. We also have multiple employee resource groups which instill a sense of belonging and inclusion, offer mentorship, and focus on connecting with underrepresented groups. We're clear that AlphaSights is a high expectations environment, and the benefits of interacting with our vast global network of experts and clients outweigh occasional longer work hours. We wish you the very best in whatever you go on to do next. - The AlphaSights Team

Thank you for leaving a review. I am disappointed to read that you feel you are being micromanaged. This is a high performance environment, and we are working in client services. So I recognize that the hours can be long, and that this role is not for everyone. We pride ourselves on giving people managerial responsibilities earlier than at other companies. We have many first-time Managers and they gain experience and skill on the job. Our VPs and Professional Development team are there to support them and course-correct when needed. We embrace feedback, and encourage the exchange of radical candor in both directions, regardless of how senior someone is. I recommend you take the time to speak with your manager and discuss areas where you see opportunities for improvement. Thanks, Sean, COO
