I appreciate you leaving your thoughts, and I recognise that this role is not for everyone. We are not the average 9-5 business, and like many professional services roles, this is a high-performance environment. In return, the total financial compensation we offer our Associates is competitive with the packages of the big four consulting firms. Because our Associates have more personal revenue impact than their peers at professional services firms, incentive pay is a more important part of the package than in Consulting. In other words, even as an Associate, you can directly influence your earning potential which is pretty motivating. Repetition is crucial to learning and improving in any domain. In a client services role, repetition of tasks allows you to build expertise with your clients. - Thank you, Gabriela, CMO

Pros

Opportunity to speak with some interesting people across the world and different industries (though you'll also get on the phone with some less pleasant experts)

Cons

This job (and overall industry) has nothing to do with research, consulting, and banking/finance at all. Yes, you will be serving consulting firms and investors, but purely as a scheduler of diligence calls. You will not be involved in any real research alongside clients, your only role is to badger people on LinkedIn all day and hope they have the generosity to set aside an hour of their busy schedules (many have real full time jobs) for a call that may never happen. Clients can change their mind at any moment and decide they are no longer pursuing an investment opportunity, meaning all your hard work in cold calling/emailing amounts to nil. That's really one of the biggest challenges in this role- there are many things out of your control. The stress you get from this job is a different kind of stress- you can put in hours of extra time to deliver on projects, but the experts you reach out to may not even be allowed to consult by their employer (or even have the desire to consult), or clients may change their mind at any time. There are little variables in your control, you are hoping that random people you reach out to via the Internet are wiling to consult for your client.
