Pros

I can’t think of many!

Cons

This company blatantly caters to white, upper middle class women ONLY. I have pictures of a branding email that was sent out that explicitly stated that our target customer was not “urban” women and that we want “suburban” women shopping with us. We were pressured into giving high scores for the Great Place to Work Survey. I’ve never seen my boss CRY before until I worked at altard state and saw our store leader and visual ASL cry multiple times due to stress and being overworked. When our new store was being built I had several 12 hour shifts and ASL’s still made me feel bad about leaving work at my scheduled time, after working for 12 hours. I don’t remember signing up for 12 hour shifts! That’s crazy! The pay can be incentivizing but please take all the negative reviews into consideration before taking a job at altard state and do not sell your soul to a money hungry CEO with absolutely zero respect for employees.

Pros

The store has pretty windows.

Cons

Just like a nonprofit or a school district, they use your love of helping others to make you feel guilty into taking less pay for way too much work.

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback. Our current starting pay rates for part time positions in Altar'd State are $16/hr. for Brand Reps and $20/hr. for Guest Leads (Keyholders). Our full time Assistant Store Leaders at Altar'd State start at $28.85/hr. and our Store Leaders start at $80,000 annually. We work hard to ensure our starting pay rates are among the best in the industry - if you have found this to not be the case and you would like to discuss in further detail, please reach out to peopledevelopment@altardstate.com.

Pros

Great pay for an hourly Brand Rep or even Guest Lead while maintaining some flexibility. Some benefits are decent. Give back mission is wonderful! New Merchant role is awesome (though high expectations can be daunting).

Cons

Absurd expectations and no work life balance for Store Leaders. Nepotism and generalized favoritism is an issue. Upper management is not consistent in their support and can be very condescending while HR can be unheard of. The company VOG or "secret shopper" program is extremely unrealistic and does not coincide with business model or needs. The company hides behind the fact they pay well and their awesome mission statement to gloss over any negativity, unrealistic expectations and fostering an unhealthy work life. Be prepared to work more than you're scheduled as an ASL and especially SL roles!
