Pros
The best reasons to work at Altria as a TSM are by far the salary, benefits and vacation package. You are offered a competitive salary as well as a company vehicle and insurance. Also 3 weeks of vacation to begin but goes up from there. Also the company provided excellent training for my position. I knew what I was doing out in the field and had learned the tools to succeed. Additionally the management I experienced was great. They did not micro-manage and only wanted to see you do well and do well for the company.
Cons
The biggest downside of working at Altria is the relocation to advance in your career. If you plan on advancing in the Sales role then you better be willing to relocate. You cannot become a manager of the same territory or unit you have been promoted from and most times next level positions are limited in the area you would want to move. The promotion process can take a while if nothing opens up in the areas you request to be moved. Also your intitial assigned territory may not be in the best neighborhoods and the position may ask you to step out of your comfort zone to visit particular accounts. For example, you could be offered a position in NYC and come to find out its Harlem which is not so glamorous.
