Pros

I will say this about Amazon, the kind of job you have, and the team you work on, make all the difference. I was lucky enough to be on a great team with great management. Amazon is a little too far on the frugal side, but the work was engaging and the work environment fun and relaxed. My coworkers were all very capable at their jobs which made each day much more enjoyable. My manager(s) were flexible about the work hours and encouraged a healthy work/life balance.

Cons

Communication between the teams of various expertise, e.g. Mechanical, electrical, embedded, etc., was disjointed and clunky. It was difficult to sync schedules and share work. Additionally, as the project moved into the production phase, a lot of the exciting and innovative work was de-prioritized, which sucked some of the fun out of working on the Amzn Go team.

Pros

Focus on customers rather than on stockholders is a huge plus. Instead of being profit driven, which can lead to cost cutting and lower quality products, Amazon focuses on delivering products that provide the best customer experience. My experience has been five stars, because I am in a job position best suited to my abilities, I am on a really great team with highly capable individuals, and my direct manager provides excellent feedback and advice.

Cons

If your manager doesn't push hard to get you a promotion, promotions can come very slowly. You might be doing that job a level higher for well over a year before the company finally promotes you to that level. Easy to get stuck in a level if you don't challenge yourself.
