Pros

Have fun, work hard, make history. Been there and it is true. As a 5x start-up founder, and having worked at Amazon, it is the worlds largest start-up. The culture is slowly changing, but for the most part very much better than only a handful of companies. If you like being a start-up person, you’ll probably enjoy your time at Amazon. It’s for the self motivated, incredibly hard working person - who wants to share that experience with others of the same mindset. It is a self service culture - don’t expect white glove anything. But you are also granted autonomy. GSD. Awesome lateral movement opportunities. Learning mechanisms and building them. Two way vs one way door decisions :)

Cons

Promotion process - it’s a disaster Compensation - don’t even dream of any decent re-up on equity after the initial 4 fully vests. That Google offer will look better. No perks / meh food. People burn out - it’s not for someone who wants work life balance. Few, if any, achieve this. LPs can be weaponized. Too many ex Microsoft people destroying the culture.
