Pros

Learn a ton, be surrounded by some of the brightest people in the industry, have an easy time interviewing for your next (higher paid, lower hours) job, truly have a seat at the table, have more responsibilities and accountability than you could possibly imagine as an FA

Cons

Unfortunately it all comes down to your manager. If you win the manager lottery, it can be a rewarding place to start your career. Otherwise, expect to work at least 60 high-stress hours a week. The reports about crying at your desk are unfortunately pretty accurate. Please consider how much you value work-life balance before you join. Expect to work a good number of weekends, even if your manager says it should be "highly uncommon." Amazon has so much potential to be a great place to work, but unfortunately management can totally ruin that. YMMV.

Pros

1) Professionalism: I had a good job while looking for other jobs - a luxury, I know: I could afford to be picky. My interview with Amazon Web Services was done at the same time as two other large companies, but Amazon blew me away with their respect for my time, the time they took to get to know me as a candidate, and the quality of questions they asked of me. 2) In a league of their own: The professionalism I saw during the interview process transferred into the workplace. Everyone I have met as come from a highly qualified place and brings to the table serious skills. 3) Work-life balance: In my first half year, I have had a pretty good work-life balance. Things are picking up, but there is still some balance. I don't mind working the extra time as I am well compensated and this is the big leagues.

Cons

Creation out of chaos? It takes a long time to learn who is who at the company, and what org does what. By the time you know the place, it get's reorganized. Other teams may try to do what you do, so you have to be the best. Abstractly, this could yield a very darwinian process where the best teams survive, but organizationally (and from a resources point of view) it seems very inefficient.

Pros

Below average, redundant work. Paid vending machines. Biased mediocre managers.

Cons

Everything you have heard about Amazon is very true. The team is filled with mediocre employees who have worked in random companies with bad work cultures. Amazon hires them and destroy it's own work culture. Amazon hires these bozos because the work is absolutely pathetic and only these kind of people will tolerate the toxic work culture for such tasks. Majority of the teams at Amazon has below average work, so you need to be lucky to get any good work. No smart guy will stay at Amazon. Amazon has tons of bozos and random managers. Amazon has grown a lot and because of this, random bozos with zero management experience/background are being promoted to Managers. These kind of people simply bring their favoritism and personal biases to management. These people destroy the work culture and generate office politics. Overall, Amazon is a very difficult place to work.
