Pros

Amdocs is a large enough company to be strong and resourceful in the market, but small enough to be nimble and decisive when needed. The company is multi-national and multi-cultural with a presence in over 50 countries. Employees are strongly encouraged to think outside the box and find new ways of doing things. Amdocs has some of the brightest and hardest working people that I've ever been associated with in my 25-year IT career. The company is agressive and dynamic with plenty of challenges and rewards, especially for Type A personalities that thrive in a fast-paced environment. The company has some great leading edge products and one of the best software delivery records in the world. Amdocs prides itself on doing whatever it takes.

Cons

There can be some stigma working at Amdocs. Historically, the company has been seen as overly agressive with both its customers and employees. Amdocs managerment may be perceived as pushy or arrogant by some customers, and employees are sometimes overworked and complain about their work/life balance. The company is very strong on the technical skill side, but has room to grow on the people skills side.

Pros

Learn about the telecom industry. Gain experience working with people from many different regions and countries. Take advantage of training opportunities provided by Amdocs.

Cons

Layoffs are rampant. Amdocs business model is to squeeze every last billable hour out of their employees. North American IT employees are hired to produce the architecture and then laid off and replaced by low-cost Indian outsource contracts.

Pros

Amdocs Consuling Division was setup to be a competitor for Accenture, however the structure of the company did not allow it to fully compete. It is still a growing organization with opportunity to help grow the new business. Though in these economic times, its hard to gain momentum in selling big projects. The current big telco clients are also tightening their belts, so the ACD division has been hit harder than the CBU. The company had alot of potential, but it will take the senior management to steer the organization in the right direction where it is independent from the corporate big brother.

Cons

ACD partners with Amdocs Corporate development teams. Depending on who won the project, the project is either owned by the consulting division or by corporate business unit. This can lead to alot of internal power struggles, in addition, ACD employees are treated as staff augs rather than true consultants.
