      Looks great from the outside in.

      Cons

      Does not pay market salary. Everyone who enters at the same time are pushed along at the same pace. Your advancement is a secret. they do not let you know what you will be able to make. For a company the does not like uncertainty from their customers they do a really bad job of letting people know what their potential is.

      Pros

      Senior management in Houston is very responsive and does a great job of communicating with all employees. Great brand in Houston, some of the best talent in the city can be found there.

      Cons

      I worked in SA not Houston. The problem is SA leadership wants to be like Chase bank. They are ignoring the middle market and focusing on large corporate accounts. Only choice for health care coverage is a high deductible plan. My wife has a PPO that has better benefits and costs the same as Amegy's high deductible plan. The only real opportunity for advancement is in Houston.

      Pros

      A solid company which generally seems to have integrity for the most part. Has local values that the customers can identify with.

      Cons

      The goals can be unrealistic and there isn't much communication from the top to the bottom. Horrible benefits. Other than that, there isn't a whole lot of cons.
