Pros

Work on high-visibility aerospace programs Strong exposure to structural, thermal, and modal analysis tools Stable, contract-backed employment environment Opportunity to collaborate with multiple major contractors and review external designs Good work-life balance compared to private aerospace primes

Cons

Contractor status → less job security tied to contract renewals Bureaucratic processes can slow technical progress Limited influence on final design decisions vs. civil servant roles Career progression can be unclear without switching contracts/teams Compensation may lag behind top-tier private sector engineering roles

Pros

The office is located in a nice, albeit only accessible by car, location. The work is very easy.

Cons

Fairly typical corporate company who expect the best but only provide the bare minimum in terms of salary, benefits, training etc. Abysmal IT systems following the merger of Amentum and Jacobs continue to plague most employees. A total lack of career opportunities for all but the selected few. Salary is meh and increases by a small amount each year just about beating inflation, but nothing that makes a real difference to livelihood. A lot of lip service is paid to welfare, mental health issues, equality etc. but next to no real action or useful resources. No company bonus scheme despite the company making large profits last year. The top level management all benefit from large annual bonuses and stock options. The employee stock purchase plan is salary sacrifice so you can save the tax as long as you intend to stay with the company 5 years otherwise you have to pay the tax and NI back. Shares aren't even offered at a discount despite the company saving on the employer NI. Work wise if you show an aptitude for something, that's it, you'll be doing that constantly as there is no emphasis on up-skilling or training.
