Pros

Good People that work hard

Cons

Amentum has been in existence for two years, in that time the bankers that own it have taken the company from 20,000 to 50,000 employees by buying other companies. The focus is on reducing overhead and running the company for as little as possibly-leaving the employees that are left with terrible work life balance while trying to hold things together. I put a decade into the company and came to the realization that I was working crazy hours so some banker somewhere could make a few more dollars.

Pros

Acquired DynCorp International and the staff. Good pay/benefits.

Cons

Terrible company to work for: lacks communication efforts, no personality from its senior leadership and does not understand the pains the acquisition has caused on any front. I personally left the company on my own terms and would not recommend this company to anyone. The Amentum leadership promises the world and delivers a pile of sand.

Pros

Great Pay!!! But you will find out there’s a huge reason for this incentive.

Cons

You will quickly learn all about the people that get fired and the joke is this place is like a “rotating door” for most people. They make you anxious by saying you won’t be able to find another job in the area that pays as well as them, so you better be good. To say it’s a micro-managed environment is like saying water is wet. Every minute there is micromanaged. You are lied to, told you don’t know anything from the beginning and they are already wasting time on you because they have to train you. You’re not allowed to talk to the commander, sso, security manager, or first sergeant directly about any concerns you have. You will get treated like a kindergartener from day 1. Expect to work lots of nights, every holiday, and your schedule gets worse when you’re bouncing between days and nights to cover for the people who are out of the office for extended periods. You will barely get to see your family. Even if it snows three feet, you better be there or you’re fired. It’s expected that you are to be in college classes or taking certifications. This makes the leadership look good, but if you don’t do any of it, you will be casually informed of being fired unless you comply. They will wait for you to make a mistake and next thing you know, you’re gone. When I was there, the people who worked there would talk very negatively about ex-coworkers and lie to people about them. It wasn’t a very positive place to be. There is a lot of potential there, but I would never look to go back there. It was emotionally exhausting to say the least If you already live in the area, you may be able to give it a shot and see how long it lasts. If you’re from out of town, I implore you to not move there. If you’re interviewing there, ask them how many different people have worked on the contract the last 3-5 years (not just amentum, but the whole contract), what was their average length of employment, and why did they leave. Were they fired, quit, etc etc, then try and find out why those people left. Even over the last 2 years. I think of the site, the rotation is about 60-75 percent of the people who are fired or quit between 3 and 12 months. If 4 people are hired at once, 2 or 3 will be gone within a year. That’s why they joke there that it’s a revolving door.
