Pros

Employee appreciation is a priority here at AFCU and the family environment is so welcoming! I applied at AFCU because I had an account and loved every interaction with the Credit Union. I started as a teller and climbed the career path towards a Lead Teller in a matter of 2 1/2 years. There is so much room to grow in the company and there resources to help you get where you want to be!

Cons

I worked in a grocery store branch and the hours were rough. I did love the idea of only working 4 days a week to get all of my hours in, but I still missed activities and family parties due to my schedule. I know that the schedules were changing for tellers in the grocery store branches and they were not guaranteed 10 hr. shifts, so they would work up to 4-5.

Pros

It is great to learn the aspects of finances that there are a lot of misconceptions about, such as how credit works and the benefits of good credit.

Cons

The only downside comes from the nature of working with people. There will always be disagreements and disappointments that are dealt with, unfortunately that means that sometimes members are misunderstanding or misdirect their harsh feelings toward employees.

Pros

When I graduated High School, I was looking for a starting job that wasn't in the fast food industry. I had no job history at the time, but the application for this job online was simple and very straight forward. It didn't even require a resume! I submitted an application and went in for some interviews, and was hired shortly after. The whole process was fast and easy. They train you on everything you need to know, no prior experience required. And guess what? It looks great on a resume! This has been a great way to start establishing myself in the workforce. I've learned a lot here, from how to work in a professional work environment to financial knowledge that will assist me the rest of my life! America First really believes in it's core values and implements them in everything they do. They are also very good at accommodating school schedules and are very generous with vacation time. Great benefits are available, and they really do make you feel valued as an employee. If you're an honest person who believes in integrity and hard work, this is a great job for you!

Cons

I work in a grocery store branch, so the longer hours were hard to get used to at first. But I've been here for almost 2 years now, and it's been great! Getting all of my work hours in 3 days/week helps me have time for school and other activities. Sometimes you get unhappy members, but you get practice dealing with difficult situations and learn not to take it personally.
