Pros

Great company in most areas with the exception of Nuclear.

Cons

Tl;dr: Do not work in Nuclear. Avoid anything related to Nuclear at all cost. Managers threaten people with termination. Burnt out and frustrated underlings blame well-intentioned colleagues on a regular basis. Mockery, rudeness, and pettiness run rampant. Unless you absolutely must live in southwest Michigan, don’t do it. AEP has great people in nearly all other areas of the company. Don’t relegate yourself to the worst part.

Pros

Learn a lot about different projects

Cons

Management will say one thing and do the total opposite. Employees are not accountable for major mistakes and promotions are giving to those management likes. You are told one thing but lied to about what really is going on. Respect goes a long way but you can't trust anyone when promotions are being handed out.

Pros

Excellent pay and benefits. Generally knowledgeable coworkers (non-management) who want to do the right thing.

Cons

Outsourcing accounting jobs to India does not help the morale in Columbus. Upper management cares about EPS and not much else. Curious how well the new paradigm of booking entries without reliable support and filing returns with questionable data "just to get them filed" will ultimately turn out.
