Technically Challenged

Pros

American Express has good health care benefits There is an effort to shift the culture to a more software development friendly environment but they are far from where they need to be.

Cons

Way too much bureaucracy in attempting to do basic technical activities. Getting a working laptop can take weeks and approvals for standard development software requires VP approval for admin rights. Allocating development, test, and production environments can literally take months. Many of the decision makers are not technically qualified. Layoffs are common. Resources are spread way too thin. Funding for projects is based on waterfall but execution is based on agile. The review system blows if you are not on a funded project.. Project executions are often based of tactical funding decisions resulting in long term rework.

Pros

good pay, good bonuses when they don't take them away due to vocm (customer surveys)

Cons

policies are ridiculous, favorites are chosen for promotions- not based on skill, constantly being threatened with your job, majority of dept always on counseling for some reason, management does not back up the employees

Pros

Loved booking travel, the employees are very friendly, great chance at working with some of the elite in the world.d

Cons

Atlanta Office management is horrible. Lack of communication, poor guidance, No ability to move further or advance in the company, several operational changes that are not beneficial to the job performing, Company metrics are not beneficial to the employee (It seems like the system is place is designed for you to fail), There are always loop holes that are in place to eliminate you from receiving your quarterly bonuses, I have never worked for a company that penalize you for working overtime (for example. if I normally work 40 hours and decide that I need to make some extra money, so I will sign up 15 extra hours for the week. Because I have signed up for those extra hours my sales goals increased. My sales goal is $950 an hour and for a normal 40 hour week I should sale $38,000.00 for the week, and because I signed up for 15 extra hours that is going to be an additional $14,250.00 that I am required to sale as well. But, you may never get those sales calls you could possibly only receive all customer service calls. Also, call center gossiping is the worse among the leaders/management in the office.
