Pros

-Very competitive salary -Excellent benefits - 7 weeks paid vacation after 5 yrs! -On site nurse practitioner... no wasted time going to doctors... just go downstairs and they will write you a prescription if needed -A lot of room to go grow if you work hard -Tuition reimbursement- 100% up to $5k a year (if you go to work full time and school part time you can pretty much finish school with no debt) (must be a degree that can be used at Amex

Cons

-If you work in customer facing roles or manage the people in customer facing roles you go through shift bids sometimes every 6 months... can't really get used to the schedule you're on which can be good or bad depending how you feel about your schedule. I prefer having consistency. -As a Customer Care Professional it is a very stressful job and you are constantly worried about making your numbers and making mistakes.

Pros

Great benefits and better than average pay, with great employees. If you are after security and a lifetime career then American Express is for you.

Cons

American Express Europe are much more pro the employee than American Express in the U.S. If you work in a large travel call center you will be monitored from the time you walk into the building until you leave, and only allowed to move from your cubicle at times allotted by Staff Planning. Vacation time is subject to a bidding system with longest serving getting first pickings. Promotion can be subject to favoritism rather than skill and hard work.

Pros

Pay is staggeringly good compared to other industries. It's a finance company, so of course they're doing well and they pay top performers (1 rating) handsomely with 20-30% bonuses - but basically you have to work two jobs worth of effort and hours to get it, so it's a bargain for Amex - effectively two head count for the price of one and a third with the rest striving for that bonus working equally as hard.

Cons

Outsourcing. You squeeze your talent so hard or shuffle them off to a vendor who then downsizes, cuts their pay, outsources their job, at the expense of the Americans in American Express.
