Pros

Amazing mission and amazing people. I have worked for the AHA since 1997 in development. I left for 3 years and came back. It is an inspiring and exciting environment; we have amazing volunteers and are run very professionally.

Pros

Benefits & work from home

Cons

Pay is not even close to being comparable with other organizations. I accepted the role based on it was a remote position and at times management was flexible. Over 12 years with the organization, my role as a digital designer expanded into print, product design and video however my title never changed as well as my pay structure. The demands are unrealistic and the stress from leadership trickles down to the “worker bees” causing a toxic environment. After years of complaints with HR, nothing was improved and bad behavior continued. This has been the only organization that allows physical assault and workplace bullying without any repercussions. The biggest upset was when a fellow coworker passed away from stress related cardiac issues and the organization “hid” it from the announcement.
