Pyramid Scheme

Pros

As a well experienced salesman, I really felt like the guy above me was inhibiting me with a power trip. He even told us that AIL had a bad rating with the BBB and I had to teach him what to say as he beat me over the head with a script. I decided I didn't have time for the games.

Cons

This is a pyramid scheme. That's why there are so many complaints about managment. Because people who should not be managers are pressured into being part of the pyramid structure. I'm not saying all management is bad but the guy directly over me was. Because it's a pyramid scheme, many mangers write raving reviews on the company because they have to consistently keep hiring to make money.

Pros

You learn the art of verbiage and persuasion. If you sell your sole, you can "potentially" make lots of money. As long as you don't get caught, and you bring in the numbers, it doesn't matter what you do.

Cons

The verbiage/persuasion skill is learned by it being used against you from the beginning. People sitting at home office can run your customers away by harrasing them with numerous phone calls trying to upsell. (A customer had over 25 calls between Dec 21 and Dec 23 just to add $5 extra in accidental coverage) Other agents can steal your customers from you years later, so your 5% loyalities dissappear faster than normal deaths and cancelations. You're preached to about following the script verbatim, but none of the "top" salesman even use the script and are praised for high numbers, even rewarded for it. The "handwritten cards" are never fully explained to the union members, they are just told to fill it out. Once the card is filled out, it just keeps getting passed around after that. I called people that hadn't even worked in the union for over a decade. Last but most annoying, the flex time is a complete lie. Your pressured into working 60hrs a week with the "free" leads. Mon-fri, 8am-9pm and Sat 8am - 5pm will be your schedule!

Pros

The most attractive aspect of joining American Income Life, for me, was that I could be part of something bigger than myself and I would have the opportunity to grow. This is not something that I was offered in my previous JOB. Starting over at 35 years old was scary but with great training and mentoring I was able to open up my own satellite office with in 8 months of starting with AIL. Every day is an exciting new adventure from the benefits that we provide to our members to the wonderful things we do in our community with our Closer to the Heart program and local food banks. To anyone who is sick and tired of getting paid what others think you're worth, this could be the right move for you! I am also very thankful to not have a JOB! I have a very successful 6 figure a year CAREER with the most amazing team and work family that I could ask for! Thank you AIL for everything you have done for me and our community!

Cons

None that I have discovered
